About Us

Welcome to Zag Creations!  We sell handcrafted jewelry made from fine glass beads, crystals, and semi-precious gemstones.  Most of our jewelry is created using the Kumihimo braiding technique.  Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese braiding technique used primarily for the cords on samurai armor. At Zag Creations, we use our unique patterns and style to transform basic Kumihimo weaving into wearable art.

Zag Creations was founded in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire in 2014 by Maryann Zagieboylo and Christianna McMorran.  Maryann created beautiful things all her life, including ceramics, oil paintings, monotypes, and quilts.  She picked up beading in 2014 and fell in love with the elegance and versatility of Kumihimo weaving.  Maryann has always loved art and art history; she takes inspiration from the Impressionists, Expressionists, and the Hudson River School paintings.

Christianna McMorran lives in Maine with her husband and cat.  She has always been a creative person seeking the right outlet.  Christianna came across Kumihimo weaving in late 2014 and thought it was a cool way to bead jewelry.  After her first piece she was hooked!  Christianna's favorite part about her work is the reaction people give when she tells them she created such a fun and interesting piece of art.
